to the gloriousness of naptime. Berlin has been fighting naps for a while now. But until recently, she had to endure naptime - for her sanity and mine (and her brother's too). She is a beast when she doesn't take an afternoon nap. But she hates them because she knows she is missing out on something, and she can't stand that. I even tried letting her take naps in my bed.
That happened once, and it was the last time she agreed to nap. After that one nap, she realized she could defy my wishes and climb out of my bed. So when I started putting her back in her crib (yes, crib. I know, I know, she's almost 3 and should be in a big girl bed - it's her hearts greatest desire ... But that's a whole other rant about our basement remodel and how it's now over 2 months behind and not looking like it will be done by Christmas). Anyhow, back to the crib. She has decided that if she can climb out of mommy's bed, she can surely escape from her own. Here she is caught in the act. Luckily, she has never fallen out of the crib or gotten hurt, but then again, if she did, maybe she would stop escaping. Hmmm. Doubt it.

it's always sad to lose the naps but then again, earlier bedtime is always appealing too! ;)
So, I don't know if this will work or not for Berlin, but on the days when Keegan tells me he doesn't want a nap "at all", if I tell him that I will come and lay down with him, suddenly he's cool with the idea. He's been napping in my bed pretty much since Camden was born and while it's not ideal, and will probably have to change when the new baby comes, it's the only place he will take a nap, so I'm sticking with what works. I'm still getting an average of 2 hours out of him each day, which has been great (and the 5 - 10 minutes, or more, that I get to lay down with him aren't so bad for me either). I don't know if this would work with Finn or not, but it's worth a shot, right? Or you just implement the rule that while it's fine if she doesn't take a nap she still has to spend a set amount of time in her bed doing quiet things, whether it's reading, playing with toys, etc. Who knows, maybe she'll still fall asleep on occasion, and then you get a little piece and quiet. :)
