Jazz Game

Since Finley played Jr. Jazz basketball this winter, he received 2 tickets to go to a Jazz game. That game was last night and he took Ryan. He didn't want to go at first because in his mind sporting events are boring (this is the result of being taken to too many RSL soccer games in his lifetime). Of course, the minute Berlin piped up that she would go in his place, he changed his tune. And, in the end was glad that he did since it meant he got to spend a couple hours with his friends chowing down on hot dogs, soda, popcorn, and way too much candy.

Partying with a bunch of 6-year olds

This year Berlin really wanted a Lalaloopsy Sewing party. My first reaction was nope, no way. Not going to deal with a bunch of 6-year olds and a sewing machine. But then, the more I thought about it, I knew we could make it work with something simple, that didn't involve the sewing machine.

Berlin wanted to make necklaces. But after looking at bead prices I convinced her to go with bracelets instead. These were a fast craft for them to do while we waited for everyone to arrive.

We decided that the girls would also sew a pet mouse, just like the one that Crumbs Sugar Cookie has. Except ours was gray because that is what I had around the house. A few days before I cut them out of felt, stitched the nose and whiskers on, attached the eyes, and punched the holes all around. All they had to do was sew and stuff the day of the party. These turned out "sew" cute and the girls did a great job. Turned out to be the perfect craft for the girls.

Then it was time for food and presents. Berlin requested donut holes from Banbury Donuts, chocolate milk, cotton candy cups, and apple slices with greek yogurt fruit dip. YUM!

Berlin had a great time with all her friends and she was so excited upon seeing the girls wear their bracelets to church the next day. Some even had their pet mouse with them. Yay for being 6!

Birthday Dinner for the Big Girl

This year Berlin decided to be daring with her birthday dinner. She chose sushi. I think she was a bit curious as to what it is and why I like it so much. So we took her to Akasaka just up the street from our house. In the end, she didn't like sushi but she liked the seaweed salad. Finley however loved the sushi but he refused to try the seaweed salad. Love my kiddos for being adventurous and trying new things.

Happy Birthday - Berlin is 6!

This little lady is 6 today. I am the luckiest mom to have been blessed with a child like her. She is tough, passionate, sweet, and dedicated to her friends. Though at times she give me a run for my money, I wouldn't trade her for anything.
Happy Birthday Missy Moo.

and now the BIG 6 ...

Spaghetti Night Hot Seat at Grandma Lynne's house earlier this week. Both she and Grandma Lynne have February birthdays along with two aunts and an uncle. Here they are with their birthday treats. (Berlin, Uncle Bill in the blue shirt, Aunt Shannon, Aunt Monica, and Grandma Lynne)

Berlin with her new hamster cage setup. She saw this first thing when she woke up and talked about it all day at school, and at home, and she showed it to anyone who came by. Love her smile and excitement. She is also wearing her new birthday dress that she got to open before school.

Berlin really wanted a cake with toys on top. I was more than happy to oblige since I hate decorating cakes. So I took her to Harmon's and she got to pick out a 5" personal cake. She chose Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting and chocolate shavings. Next week she is having her friend party. Can you guess what it will be? The cake topper is a big clue :)

Here she is opening her presents. She had such a fun day.

I think she felt special today. Apparently being six also automatically makes her taller as it was the first thing she said to me this morning, "I am six now and I feel taller!" I love her so much. So blessed are we to have her in our family.

We had to PRY them away from this in order to go to bed :)

Jr. Jazz comes to a close

Yesterday was Finley's last Jr. Jazz game of the season. After the game, the got their participation trophies all the tune of the Star Wars medal ceremony song. The boys thought that was pretty awesome (or kinda weird as Finley said as we were walking to the car). On the way home he asked if he could play again next year. Well, of course!
