Grandpa Peterson

Today we honored the life of my Grandpa Peterson. He passed away earlier this week and the funeral services were this morning. He was just one week away from his 97th birthday. After all these years, he's once again with his wife, my Grandmother who passed away in 1982.

I am so grateful for the memories that I have of him. He was a wonderful grandpa who loved life, the outdoors, serving others, and teaching (he was an educator most of adult life). He could do anything from plumbing, electrical, carpentry work (he built his house from ground up), painting landscapes & nature scenes. You name it he could do it - even can food & sew. The things I will miss most are his tight bear hugs, his blue work coveralls, his perfectly combed & slicked hair, the stories he used to tell me about what I was like when I was little (he told me I was always a stubborn kid & opinionated - just like a Peterson should be), and the Howdy-doo that greeted me whenever I saw him

Donut Falls hike

Sunday afternoon was the perfect Fall day - overcast, but not cold. So we decided to head up the canyon for a short hike. We chose Donut Falls. It was only about an hour hike round-trip (would be shorter but you have to remember we have Finn hiking which is a bit slower). It rained a little before we got there, but that didn't stop us. The smell of damp forest was intoxicating. I love that smell. I wish I could bottle it up and take it home with me.

US Soccer - World Cup Qualifier

Last Saturday (a week ago yesterday) Ryan and I went to the US Soccer World Cup Qualifier (against El Salvador) for our date night. He had gotten great tickets on the 2nd row. Beforehand we went to dinner with his brother Oliver & his wife, Ry's sister Teresa & her husband, and Ry's cousin Jason & his wife. Then we all went to the soccer match, of course we had to get something yummy afterwards - Coldstone. I love hanging out with Ryan. It doesn't happen as much as it should.

Oh - and the US Soccer team WON!!!

Date night with the Finnster

Ryan took Berlin to the RSL soccer game and Finley was more than disappointed at getting stuck running errands with me (costco). So I decided that we'd have our own fun date and took Finn to Fat Catz for dinner & bowling. This was Finn's first time bowling and he did great! He loved all the crazy lights & loud music and just danced in between his turns. It was pretty darn cute. He tried rolling/pushing it on his own, rolling it down the metal kiddy ramp, and thre it like the big guys. H preferred doing it all himself, but his little arm got tired so he went back to the ramp. Here's some pics followed by the funniets little video of him. This was one of the funnest one-on-one times I have had with Finn. He eagerly chatted my ear off during dinner, which I happily listened to. He kept hugging me and telling me the sweetest little things that just melt your heart. I learned so much about him that night. I can't wait for our next date night.
