Thanksgiving 2012

This year we decided to drive down to San Diego for Thanksgiving. My sister Shauna just had her 4th baby and so we decided to go down for his baby blessing. Though the drive was long and we were only there a couple days, it was the best decision. We had such a good time with them and the rest of my family that came down. One day we went to Legoland, another the beach and the Mormon Battalion museum.

First, we stopped in Vegas for the night on our way down. We stayed at the Las Vegas Hotel & Casino (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). Our first room was DISGUSTING and the carpet was filthy, there was mold all over the walls, and nothing was clean (hair and crumbs all over the floor and bed). So, Ryan complained and got a free upgrade. Much better. Before heading out the next morning we took the kids to the strip and walked around.

Then we got lunch and headed down to San Diego. We hit more traffic than we thought we would and by the time we got to my sister's house, we were pooped.

The next day we had Thanksgiving with my parents, Shauna, Val, Em & Janweb, and my brother Ben. It was fun and the kids just played all day with their cousins and were as happy as could be. While we cooked and got the food ready, the men took the kids to Mission Bay so the kids could run around, ride bikes, and play in the sand. Um, yeah, so you think my kids like the sand?

On Friday we went took the kids to Legoland (an early Christmas present from Ryan and I).

Finley jammed our boat (as seen below) and so I took control of the wheel. He pouted the rest of the ride. But it was an awesome jam and we were all dying. I love my family. I have the best brothers and sisters!

Saturday we went to the Mormon Battalion museum in old town San Diego. If you have never been, you should go. It's free and it was really fun for the kids. And it only takes about an hour to do the whole thing.

Then after a short lunch break we took them to the beach. Finley tried boogie boarding for the first time and was hooked! He loved every single minute of it and was bummed when it was time to leave. I think we just might have to make a trip an annual trip to San Diego every Fall a new priority in our family.

Sunday was the baby blessing and it was so sweet. I love all my nieces and nephews and it was sad to have to leave them behind. We sure do wish we all lived closer together. Someday I want to return to California and live by the beach. Someday.

The whole reason we were down in San Diego...my cute nephew!
