Thermometer

So, I need to ask a question to all the moms and dads out there ... We need a new thermometer for the kids. Any recommendations? The ones we've had over the past 5 years are the cheap kinds that and honestly never work (mostly because my kids hate having to stick it under their tongue or under the arm and we never get a correct reading). I really need to just get a good one but don't know which ones to look at.

we have an ear one (those are so hard to get an accurate reading), a few digital ones, and a glass that I recently broke that goes under the tongue. I have 1 digital one that I wrote "bum" on the holder so I know that goes in bums and not mouths. But I think digital are the easiest and under the tongue, unless my kids will let me do their bum, but that's not usually possible except for the baby, who has no choice.

We have an ear one that my mother in law got us years ago. I really like it. It's easy to use. I'm not sure where she got it, but you should go check out www.onestepahead.com and in the search box type in thermometer. They have about three different types that look pretty nice to me.

I am actually buying a new one b/c the one we have reads 94.1 on everyone.....I am going to buy the one that you scan across their forehead and the temporal artery. Quick and non-invasive!! I let you know what we think.

we use a digital one that goes up the toosh, it seems to work well.

I have an ear one that works pretty well, and I just got it from Target. Nothing too fancy schmancy. The temporal ones are pretty good, but after our recent visit to the ER/hospital the nurse there told me that while they are great because they are non-invasive the temp isn't too accurate and that it usually shows a lower temp than what it really is (hopefully that makes sense...I'm a little out of it right now).

I ran into this same dilemma a few weeks ago and got a thermometer that lots of people recommended called the exergen temporal scanner. I bought mine at costco but they have it at walmart/target, etc. You just scan the temporal lobe. People that have had it liked it and I feel like so far it's been good!! Hope you find one that works for you! xoxo
