In-house Camping and Movies

I bought a small kelty sunshade to take up to Bear Lake this Summer as a good solution for when we don't feel like setting up our big sunshade. I wanted to see how small/big it really was so I set it up in the living room. It was so big and roomy we decided to have a movie night in it. We watched Top Secret (with Val Kilmer), ate popcorn and candy, and giggled. Yep. Lots of giggles. It was so much fun that I am sure we will do it again.

Apparently the kiddos inherited Ryan's inability to stay awake through an entire movie. This is how I left them... Sweet Dreams!

Birthday Girl...the BIG 7!

This little miss had a birthday and she is now 7! Wha-what? Can't believe she is 7. I love her so much. My heart aches when I think of how fast she is growing up. She's my little Tenacious-B. Fiesty, funny, and full of spirit. Happy Birthday Berliny-boo!

 

 

 The one thing that she really really wanted and was so excited to get ... her very own Lego Ginny figure. Thanks ebay for making the impossible - possible once again. She even came with tickets to the Utah Symphony plays Harry Potter in a couple weeks.

 

 
She got her very own set of Spiderwick Chronicles book set and some new pajamas. Then it was on to dessert.

Per her request ... cake pops. Dark Chocolate Peppermint Candy Cane cake pops. Thanks Berlin for making me 10lbs heavier than I was when I made them. They were DELICIOUS!

7 Years Ago ...

Nothing in this world makes you more aware of your own age and how quickly time goes by than watching your own children get older. Today is one of those days where I feel the weight of that realization most heavily. Time is truly passing by WAY too fast. 

Seven years ago, this little girl came into the world.

I  am so glad that she chose to come to our family. We couldn't have asked for a better caboose, though I am sure she has had more than one "Doh! What was I thinking!" moment.

To my brave, fearless (yes, those are real brains that she insisted on touching), curious, sassy little girl ... keep on being you, because you are perfect! I love you so very very much.

Frozen and Ice Castles in Midway

We took the kids to see Frozen back in December. So when the Ice Castles came to Midway we knew we had to take the kids. We bundled up and went a few weeks ago. It was pretty cool to the see Ice Castle. We went early enough to see it in the light of day, then got dinner at a great mexican place nearby, then went back to see it lit up at night. Honestly, we preferred the sculpture during the day. The definition was pretty amazing. Finley love the ice-tunnel slide. Berlin, not so much.

 

 

 

  

 

 

This was really a fun adventure for our family. So glad we got to experience it before it melted. Afterwards, we had dinner in Midway at Tarahumara.
Finley would probably say that their salsa bar was the highlight of the evening.

Jan / Feb 2014 Catch-all: Jr. Jazz and Cub Scouts

Jr. Jazz is over. And I am so glad that I get my Tuesday nights back. I'd like to say that I also get my Saturday mornings back, but I was kinda selfish and slept in through half of them. Let's be honest, 8:30 am games just don't sit well with me.

But Finley had a great time. We have such a fun group of boys that are friends and they have played together the last few seasons. They have a great coach who is so good to the boys too, which makes a world of difference. Finley never complained once about going to practice or the games. Now we get to gear up for soccer again!

Cub Scout - Super Saturday happened this weekend. Thank heavens I wasn't in charge of anything. It was put on by the Stake so all I had to do was show up. The boys had a good time passing off achievements and electives in their books.

 

 

 

 

Finley's favorite: The Aquaman relay race.  

I won't lie. It was exhausting. But it was fun to watch these kids get out of the house and have fun, get active, and be silly.
