Meet me in Gilgal

So, after dinner on our Anniversary, Ryan and I were heading down to City Creek to do a little shopping. As we were driving he remembered this strange little park that he had gone to years ago. So we set off to find it. Turns out it is right by Trolley Square. It is the strangest, yet quietest little garden ever. It is wedged in between two houses, so it's not terribly big, and it is filled with the strangest rock creations, sculptures, etc. Want a really fun, yet very strange experience?

There are tombstone like flagstones everywhere with scriptures, poems, lyrics, etc. engraved in them. 

  

Ryan and I were full of giggles as we wandered the paths. 

However, despite the curious nature of this place, it really is a great Urban City Park. There were others there, but it was so quiet and peaceful. A retreat from crazy downtown. I can't wait to take the kids to see it!

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year, Ryan and the kids got me a weekend in Park City. I love to hike and it was meant to be a fun weekend with LOTS of hiking. Unfortunately, mother nature didn't cooperate with us. Despite the clouds and lots of rain, we had a great time shopping the outlets, eating out, watching movies, and going for nature walks. We love Park City.

We started the weekend off with dinner at Cafe Rio. My new fave: their salmon fish tacos! 

In between the rain, clouds, and sunshine, we were able to take a nice walk down to the white barn. I love that Park City has paved trails everywhere. 

  

These large rodent like creatures were everywhere at the barn. They watched us intently but we couldn't get them to come out. Probably for the better.

2nd Grade Puppet Show

All second graders at Rosecrest put on a puppet show each year. Kids in each class are divided into small groups. These groups work together to create characters and write a play. This year, I was lucky enough to be involved in this project in Finn's classroom. It was so much fun to see the kids write their plays and be a part of the puppet creation process. I helped with the paper-macheing of puppet heads, painting them, and with my sewing skills I was able to bring their pictures to life. Ryan even painted all the faces on them. It was a long process, but a lot of fun. Here are the puppets that I helped make.

Talent Show

Last week the kids school put on a talent show. Finley was going to play the piano, but then he overthought it and backed out because he didn't want the kids to laugh if he made a mistake. I was sad and tried to convince him that the kids wouldn't laugh and that he would do great. But he didn't buy it and opted out.

Berlin however was very excited to get to be a part of the show. She even went to the principal with her friend and they tried out together without me even knowing. She had decided to show off her tumbling and hula-hooping skills - two things she loves very much. The day arrived and we went to the show. She was so excited until she realized her friend didn't show up and so she had to go up by herself. Despite being nervous, she was awesome. So proud of this girl for doing something that I would never have done at her age. Love her!

Tanner Flats

We had the opportunity to go camping with some friends this past weekend up at Tanner Flats (Little Cottonwood Canyon). It was so much fun. We can't wait to do it again and make it an annual thing. Next time we will go for 2 nights instead of 1. It was just that much fun.
